- The stamps
- One stamp per country, drawn for the Driftlog iPhone app: the same landmark drawings, frames and ink colours, and the same tilt each country gets in the app's passport. They are also on a 194-stamp poster that is free to use. For now the stamps of Armenia, Israel and North Korea are plain on this page, with the same frame, ink colour and name but no drawing, while their drawings are being reviewed.
- What counts as a country
- The 193 UN member states plus Taiwan, the same 194 the photo counter counts. Vatican City, Kosovo, Palestine, Western Sahara and territories such as Hong Kong, Puerto Rico and Greenland have no stamp in this set. (The Driftlog app counts territories separately, so its number can be higher.)
- The order
- Countries counted from your photos or a Google Maps Timeline file are stamped by the first year each one turns up. Photo dates only give a year, so within a year, and for countries without one, the order is by region (Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Oceania), then by name. Picked by hand, there are no years, so it is region, then name.
- Privacy
- The page is drawn in your browser. Your list of countries is not sent anywhere: the stamps come as four fixed image sheets that load in full whichever countries you pick, so even the requests say nothing about your list. Save video also loads the photo counter's border file, the same fixed file for everyone, and makes the clip on your device. There are no analytics and no cookies. A list brought over from the counter travels after the # in the address, which browsers never send to a server.
